The 12-week scan is a major milestone. By this stage, your baby is fully formed, and we can conduct a detailed survey of their early anatomy. This appointment is often coordinated with First Trimester Combined Screening or Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) blood tests.
Comprehensive Assessments Include:
Nuchal Translucency (NT): Measuring the fluid at the back of the baby’s neck.
Structural Checks: Examining the developing brain, heart, stomach, bladder, abdominal wall, and limbs.
Nasal Bone: Checking for the presence of the nasal bone, another important chromosomal marker.
Maternal Health: Assessing the uterus, ovaries, and measuring uterine artery blood flow to screen for early risks of preeclampsia.
This is an external, transabdominal scan. Please arrive with a moderately full bladder to help optimize the image clarity. We allocate plenty of time to ensure we capture all the necessary clinical measurements while allowing you to enjoy watching your baby move.
