Pelvic Ultrasound Scans

Advanced diagnostic imaging to evaluate the health of your uterus, ovaries, and pelvic region. Get clarity on your reproductive health in a comfortable, supportive environment.

Why Choose a Pelvic Ultrasound?

A painterly medical illustration split into three integrated sections. On the left, a female patient in a green shirt lies on an examination table with her head propped on pillows, looking toward a monitor. Her abdomen is exposed, and an ultrasound probe is positioned on her lower belly. Central stylized purple petal shapes containing subtle outlines of women’s faces flow toward the right. On the right, a large medical monitor displays a clear anatomical diagram of the female pelvic structure, including the pelvic bones and the reproductive organs (uterus and ovaries) colored in purple. The background uses rough brushwork in shades of sage green, teal, deep violet, and gold.

A pelvic ultrasound is the foundational diagnostic tool for female reproductive health. Whether you have been referred by your GP for specific symptoms or are seeking a routine check, this scan provides high-resolution, real-time images of your pelvic anatomy.

Common Reasons for Referral:

  • Investigating unexplained pelvic pain or cramping.

  • Evaluating heavy, irregular, or absent menstrual bleeding.

  • Checking for ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, or polyps.

  • Locating a misplaced IUD (Intrauterine Device).

  • Post-menopausal bleeding investigations.

How to Prepare:

A standard pelvic assessment usually requires two parts. First, a transabdominal scan is performed across your lower abdomen. You will need to arrive with a full bladder (drink 1 litre of water an hour before your appointment) to lift the uterus for clear viewing. Following this, you will be asked to empty your bladder for a transvaginal scan. This involves a slender, lubricated ultrasound probe being gently inserted into the vagina, providing the highest quality, magnified images of your pelvic organs.

An artistic, multimedia illustration combining painting and sketch styles. On the left, a woman reclines comfortably on an examination couch, receiving an abdominal ultrasound scan. A hand holds the transducer on her abdomen. Fluid, abstract purple organic shapes, incorporating female profiles inspired by the Athena logo, flow across the center. On the right, these shapes lead to a medical monitor displaying a detailed sketch of the female pelvic anatomy, including the uterus, ovaries, and bladder against a cool, colorful background.
